When the deeper water ain’t working try shallower.

Jan 14th, 2010 | By korin | Category: Fishing Blogs and Logs, Sea Fishing, Tips and Information | 362 views

We went fishing on Saturday at Paraparaumu and although there was a nice southerly blowing through we still managed to get out. Launching the Zodiac from the beach can cause some issues even with the smaller wave – we don’t have a front cover on our boat to keep the water from splashing over [...]

Though we all know there are plenty of sharks out in Kapiti and i would hate to see people move away from the beach however my brother went out surfing at Raumati South at the Esplande and a good size Shark finned beside him. Obviously he went straight in however this was only at waist [...]

We went out fishing yesterday at Pukerua Bay as the weather was very calm and sun shinning. 2 Snapper! along the Beach – Fishing

Dec 18th, 2009 | By korin | Category: Fishing Blogs and Logs, Sea Fishing, Tips and Information | 886 views

First Snapper this Summer

We went out yesterday at midday in near perfect conditions. The water was a couple of degrees warmer than a couple of weeks ago and there was a lot of bird activity from Paraparaumu Beach through to Raumati Beach. Alot of this was in the shallow water, but great sign to see so many bait fish and large schools of Kahawai… we all know with large schools of Kahawai come larger fish. We decided to head out front of the Kapiti Boat club again at depth of 24m. With the tide heading out we drifted south towards Raumati Beach.

garmin 300 cWell we just brought a Garmin 300 c fish finder, after our cheap one died last year, and so we took it out for a test the other weekend. We only caught a few Kahawai and a barracuda plus my brother got into something very large which snapped his line…

We went fishing on Saturday at around 12pm just to see if the Snapper might have come in at Paraparaumu Beach. Having not done any fishing over Winter we were a bit rusty. We got our little Zodiac out and scrubbed it off. We headed out at Paraparaumu Beach and had a quick fish as [...]

Our 2008/ 2009 summer season! As the snapper and kingfish migrate to warmer waters the XOS blue cod, terakihi and groper move in with still the chance of the odd kingi or snapper from the deeper spots. After catching over 25 kingfish up to 20kg this season and releasing all but 3, and my boat [...]

Dead Fish along Kapiti??

Jun 3rd, 2009 | By korin | Category: Fishing Blogs and Logs, Sea Fishing | 191 views

Hearing the news about dead fish washing up on Kapiti makes you wonder whether it’s a slow news day? Or do we have a serious problem? I took the dog for a walk along the beach and sure enough I did notice a few extra fish washed up than normal. So what could have caused [...]
