You would need burley but surfcasting from the beach is a bit iffy in Raumati South. Some days you will get Kahawai other days you may get nothing.

Yeah it can be up and down yet i was so surprised with the numbers out there... berley is a must... we normally anchored up around the 20 -23m depth... caught enough for dinner everytime. Havent been out in a while but we do probably more surfcasting now

Surfcasting can be long hours around kapiti and often you will be getting Kahawai / mullet and of course red cod. We sometimes used our 8ft zodiac with a 15hp, found it was easy to get in and out of the water. Boats always take time to wash down and if you are spending hours in the water a small boa...

I haven't fished foxton river mouth, I did have a look there once and it's quite a large area so would definitely get some good fish

Welcome to the forum, where abouts do you do your kite fishing and surfcasting? I would imagine you have seen how the fish stock has gone during that time, have you noticed any changes?
