Salt Water fishing around Palmy

Hey Guys, I am massey university student In palmy, just moved down from the bay of plenty, any help for salt water fishing in the region would be appreciated a lot, I've heard some stuff about the otaki river mouth but apart from that I have no knowledge of the area, Cheers in advance.

Rockfisher would be your main to get into contact with as he also lives up there. There are fishing spots up and down the west coast, the otaki river is good and has two sides to it. The Te horo side you can access via old sims road and can get to the river along a 4wd track, it was quite rutty last time we went up there, but you can get some great fishing on that side of the river and it's also much less busy. The Otaki side of the river gets the most pressure and often we see alot of people netting and surfcasting on that side. We pick up Kahawai and close in you get alot of mullet using the smaller rods. We haven't yet pulled in snapper but during the summer months they would be around.

I haven't fished foxton river mouth, I did have a look there once and it's quite a large area so would definitely get some good fish
